Open Rehearsal and Beryl Presentation
Wednesday 4 July 2018
It could be said that this was a true independence day for Beryl as she played for us as accompanist for the very last time, after 44 years!
Here are a few photos taken on the night, starting with photos of the Open Rehearsal.
(please note that to see each photo in it's true proportions you need to click on it as in this gallery formation they do tend to get a bit squashed.
Many thanks to photographer Jill Heyes who is now the official deputy to the HCS photographer Ernesto!
Now for the presentation of the gifts which included a solid silver bon bon dish which is hallmarked Chester 1906, travel vouchers to the value of £500 (not time limited) redeemable at a tour operator that Beryl and Henry use, a magnificent bouquet of flowers, and a Liverpool Football Club shirt with Beryl P on the back. The gifts were presented by representatives of the Sopranos, Altos and Tenors after Bass (and chairman) Peter Thompson had said a few words. At the end, 'unaccustomed though she was to public speaking' Beryl had a little speech of her own to give. Then we all sang "You'll never walk alone!"
After the gift giving there was time for a few drinks and nibbles and to talk to the guests who had come along for the Open Rehearsal and to each other of course! Thank you to Catriona and Bridget for running the bar.
