SOCIAL ACTIVITIES OF HARROGATE CHORAL SOCIETY!!
After rehearsals some choir members go out for a drink, the
usual venue being the Pine Marten on Otley Road in Harrogate. After working
up an appetite a number of choir members like to relax after our concerts
with a quick Pizza, Chinese meal or something similar.
In 1998 a number of choir members went to Paris to sing some concerts and see the sights. We hope to repeat this, or do something similar, at some point in the future. We held a Golden Anniversary dinner dance in May 1998, there are certain to be excuses for more social events in future years.
During the latter half of the 1999 - 2000 season we were busy fund raising to compensate for the loss of a major sponsor. The activities organised included a lunchtime " Piano and Organ Recital", Raffle, An Evening of Wine and Roses, Car Boot Sales, Art Evening, Quizzes and a Sponsored Sing.
In Autumn 2000 we launched "Society Socials" ... every now and then we plan to finish our rehearsal early then stay for a glass of wine (or two!) and have the chance to talk (something we are not supposed to do in rehearsal!!) and get to know each other a bit better.
On 12th June 2005 the choir enjoyed a Hog Roast as the Summer end of term celebration. Current and ex-choir Members attended and a fun time was had by all.

The 2006 HOG ROAST was also a run away success.
Our Community and Pastoral Sub Committee will be providing the refreshments for our Open Rehearsal in January and are also looking a the possibility of Society Socials at the end of rehearsals in March and May (this is where we stop rehearsing a little early and have a drink and a chat).
Of course we must not forget that the 2008-2009 season is our Diamond Jubilee Year .... so we are planning some special events ... watch this space for more information.
