
OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR - ANDREW PADMORE

Dr Andrew Padmore comes to Harrogate Choral Society with a wealth of experience of conducting the major Choral Repertoire and working with some of the most well-known names in the vocal and orchestral world.
He studied conducting as a private pupil of Sir Adrian Boult and his varied career has included teaching - as a Director of Music in a large secondary school, playing both trombone and violin professionally, and 10 years as a Cathedral Organist and Master of Choristers.
He also adjudicates and has judged at International Choral Competitions, is an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music grade and diploma examinations and directs Choral Workshops and courses for singers. He has been a Mentor on the CT.ABRSM professional development course for singing and instrumental teachers, and Warden of the PTS of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
Frequent appearances as a Guest Conductor have taken him all over the world with several invitations to S. E. Asia. He has worked with many choirs around this country from small chamber choirs at the BBC to the largest of choral societies e.g. Huddersfield Choral Society. He also conducts the orchestral repertoire and is particularly known for his appearances at outdoor “last night of the proms” type concerts around the country in venues such as Crystal Palace to audiences of several thousands.
He is also Conductor
and Artistic Director of the Yorkshire
Philharmonic Choir based in Wakefield which is noted for its adventurous
repertoire, exciting performances, large audiences, and high acclaim from
the critics.
