GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT HARROGATE CHORAL SOCIETY
Our President and Principal guest conductor is Brian Kay, ex-Kings singer and well known broadcaster, and under his baton we have performed Handel's "Messiah", Mozart's "Requiem" and Bach's "Mass in B Minor". We were also been fortunate to have Jeffrey Wynn Davies as our Music Director for 14 years.
Since September 2005 we have been enjoying lively and musically educational rehearsals with Andrew Padmore, our new Music Director and conductor. We are looking forward to more hard work and good fun in the 2007-2008 season.
We engage professional soloists and for the past five years have been lucky enough to be of help to Making Music Yorkshire (Serving Yorkshire & The Humber) by providing administrative support for their annual audition day which has for the past five years taken place in Harrogate. The event, the aim of which is to encourage young emerging singers by offering opportunities for them to sing at selected concerts, will once again take place at Ashville College in Harrogate in 2008.
For most of our concerts we are accompanied by professional orchestras, such as Chameleon Arts Orchestra, Amici Ensemble, The Fine Arts Brass Ensemble, the Orchestra of the Golden Age, His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts and the band of the Royal Marines, Scotland.
